More than a standard build, because the scene is modelled before it is implemented. How is 3D actually built into a site?

Usually Spline, exported and embedded into Webflow, with the scene tied to scroll or pointer position. 3D website design done this way stays editable rather than becoming a video file nobody can change. Wiring the interaction is the same work as any other motion, described on Webflow Animations.

Will it make my site slow?

It can, easily, and it is the heaviest thing you can put on a page. The mitigations are a compressed scene, lazy loading below the fold, and a static image fallback on phones. Everything gets measured against the three Core Web Vitals thresholds before launch, which is the Google Lighthouse work.
